Henry (Hank) Hedges

Vice President

Hedges III is Vice President of The Safety Company, Inc. He is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Fraud Examiner, a National Safety Council Certified Senior Trainer/Consultant and is an Authorized Department of Labor OSHA Instructor.  He has earned degrees in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Safety and Fire Technology from Western Kentucky University and Central Missouri State University.  In addition, he has 20 years of experience including assignments as Corporate Safety and Environmental Director, Professor and Consultant.  As Vice President of the Safety Company, Inc. Hank provides:

Mr. Hedges re-published 2014 EM 385-1-1 Health and Safety Manual for Contractors. Mr. Hedges managed confined spaces for the World Trade Center Emergency Response and Recovery Project in 2002.  He was previously Director of Health, Safety and Environmental Affairs for Fortune 500 multi-national manufacturing companies.  He has experience developing and implementing Environmental, Health and Safety programs and audits in twenty different countries.  He has provided safety consulting and training services to Government, school districts, municipalities, transportation, manufacturing, health care, maritime, chemical, petroleum, construction, computer and food industry sectors.  He leads CSP Study Groups, worked as an Adjunct Professor and has presented numerous safety and environmental topics for schools, companies and other organizations.  He has also been recognized as Chapter and Regional Safety Professional of the Year by the American Society of Safety Engineers for successfully exceeding accident prevention goals.  In addition, he has served on numerous machine guarding and other safety related committees and is Past President of the St. Louis and Central New York American Society of Safety Engineers Chapters.

He conducts on-site hazard analyses and evaluation, and provides improvement recommendations for executive and operations management.  He implemented the first EH&S program for a large multi-national company and  helps numerous companies reduce injuries and workers' compensation costs.   He has been most effective customizing training and prevention programs to fit client needs and management style.

Debra Mattie

President

the safety company presidentDebra Mattie is President of The Safety Company, Inc. She attended Mattatuck Community College, Waterbury, Connecticut and Frederick Community College, Maryland.  Ms. Mattie worked with Mr. Hedges in NYC on site during the World Trade Center Emergency Response and Recovery Project in 2002.

Her commitment to safety was recognized for Outstanding Service to the Central New York chapter of American Society of Safety Engineers.

She re-published the 2014 publication of the EM 385-1-1 Safety & Health Requirements Manual for Contractors in 2015.

Lauren Healy

office managerMeet Lauren Healy.  Ms. Healy attended Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. She is a Certified Site Safety and Health Officer and has performed her duties on-site with outstanding performance and we are proud to have her as part of our team.

When Lauren is not on site, she works on program development, updating safety training programs and helping with daily office tasks and accounting functions.
